How the Job Runs

What Most Homeowners Get Wrong
Soffit and fascia often get treated as cosmetic trim, but the fascia board is structural. It holds the eavestrough and finishes the bottom edge of the roof deck, so a rotted fascia puts the eavestrough hanging from it at risk too. Air needs to move up through the soffit perforations and into the attic past the roofline framing, and new vented panels pull no air into the attic if that path is blocked by insulation or debris, which can leave the attic just as poorly ventilated as before the work was done. A third is ignoring a soft or discoloured fascia board instead of replacing it, which hides the problem until the eavestrough it supports starts to sag.
