What Most Homeowners Get Wrong
Homeowners often replace eavestrough with the same size and downspout count as the original system, even when an addition has increased the roof area the eavestrough now needs to drain. The result is a system that looks fine until the next heavy storm. A second common mistake is treating a sagging section as a quick hanger fix when the fascia board underneath has already softened. A simple way to check is to press gently on the fascia board itself: if it feels soft or spongy, the wood has already started to rot even if the eavestrough still looks fine, and the eavestrough is likely to sag again before long no matter how it is refastened.
